Duet

"Oh lover, hold on..."

"Till I come back again"

"For these arms are growing tired"

"And my tales are wearing thin"

"If you're patient..."

"I will surprise"

If Rachael Yamagata and Ray LaMontagne do make love together, it will be a blend of raw emotions and mutual poetic bliss...it will be like the caress of water on rough rocks.

But of course, that day will never come because you see, if anyone is going to sleep with Rachael Yamagata it should be me. Oh shut up okay...in my defense, go google for Ashton Kutcher.

Another good reason, the bonding of these two musical deities will never happen is because Ray LaMontagne is happily married and very faithful to his wife (or so I heard).

So, in order to make good use of their God-given musical brilliance, Rachael and Ray decided to sing a duet together...aptly titled 'Duet' (talk about stating the obvious). And this happened to be one of the most intimate and personal (heck I'm so redundant, isn't intimate and personal the same thing?) thing that Rachael ever did.

By "intimate and personal" (I'm being redundant again), of course I'm talking in terms of song-wise. So get that other thing out of your head you sick people.

Now, the song 'Duet' is a very, and I mean VERY personal song. Both Yamagata and LaMontagne have this very husky quality to their voice. And at times in the song, you can hardly hear their vocals as they whisper their way through the lyrics (personal, get it?).

The only musical instrument in work here is an acoustic guitar, which works to the intimate (gosh I really need to work on my vocabulary) mood of the song.

However, the thing that make this song one of the greatest modern love songs out there is the intense but simple lyrics. This is truly a remarkable love duet...

Allo... I'm that fellow Rachael Yamagata fan that you found over at my blog 'Incoherent Thoughts'. And guess what?! I'm a huge Ray LaMontagne fan too!! Am so glad to find someone who shares the same taste in music. And I totally agree with you, if Rachael & Ray actually produced a song together the effect would be out of this world. Have you heard of the collaboration of Rachael Y. with Toots on the Maytals - Blame on Me? I absolutely love their combo.

BTW, nice blog :)
